Bailey, a beautiful dog with a big smile was dropped off by his owner at the groomer.  Two months later, Bailey was still waiting for his person to pick him up and in danger of being taken to a shelter.

The difficult economic times we're in are causing many people to abandon their pets.  Something most of us would never consider.  But what if you had no alternative?  People are finding it difficult to pay their bills and feed their children, let alone the family pet.  If you were losing your home and had to move somewhere pets weren't allowed, what would you do?  Some are dropping them off like Bailey's owner, while others (and unfortunately most) are tying them up in the yard with a bowl of food and a dish of water before leaving.  As for the ones taken to a shelter, if they aren't able to find another family, they could be put down.

Can you imagine what they must think?  "Was I a bad dog?"  "Why did my family leave me?"  Dogs that once had a happy life are now left alone and in danger of dying.

When Laura and Toni heard about Bailey, they knew there was no better time to start the Foundation they both had wanted to open for so long.

Dogs have been considered man's best friend for a reason.  They are amazing.  A dog will act like they haven't seen you in years every time you walk through your door.  They are proven stress relievers.  There are dogs that are members of the police department, sniffing out drugs their human counterparts could never find.  Some dogs are trained to give sight and guidence to people who can't see while others are able to sense when someone is going to have a seizure.  Dogs have been known to save their person's life by barking when the house is on fire and studies have even shown dogs have the ability to detect cancer in people.  And we all recall how dogs became important members of the rescue efforts after 9/11.  Amazing.

We at the Rocca Bowwow Foundation believe our four-legged friends are just as important as our two-legged ones.

We've aimed our goals high, but with the support of others who share the same views, we know we'll be able to reach above and beyond!
